Changing My Hairstyle

A few years ago, a friend of mine told me that my hair was a little dated. I was kind of offended at first, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that she was right. I needed a change, but I wasn't sure what I wanted. I started doing a little research, and I was able to find an incredible salon near my house that offered what I was looking for. I made an appointment, and the hairstylist walked me through a litany of styles, colors, and accessories. This blog is designed to help people to learn more about what a spa or salon can do for you, so that you can change your look too.

Hair Transformations To Consider

If you find your hair to be unmanageable, or if you aren't fond of the natural color of your hair, you may be ready to embark upon a hair transformation. A transformation can be one that takes place during one standard visit or a longer, full-service visit. Before booking an appointment at a hair salon, consider some of the hair upgrades that you can select from.

Long To Short Styles

Long hair that doesn't contain any layers may lay flat and require a lot of work on your part to make it appear to have body. Removing dead ends and adding a series of layers can do wonders when it comes to increasing volume. Additionally, changing the hair length in a dramatic fashion can give you an entirely new look. Pixie cuts, bobs, and fades are some short styles that will look chic, yet not take long to recreate on your own.

Let your stylist know about the amount of dedication that you are willing to put toward styling your hair at home. If you are a busy person, you may prefer a 'wash and go' style. A short hairstyle that will only require shampooing and conditioning treatments is one that will be easy to upkeep.

Hair Color Changes

Changing the color of your hair may accentuate your eyes, your facial features, and your skin tone. If you look washed out due to the dull color of your hair, think about adding dramatic streaks of color to your hair or subtle streaks of color that will blend in with your natural color. Color fades, blocking techniques, frosting processes, and balayage processes are some popular coloring procedures that can revitalize your hair.

At a salon, your stylist may show you some samples of various color combinations that can make an impact on your own hair. They may use software to guide you in selecting a coloring technique that will add all-over color or targeted color. You will also have the option of choosing light or dark dyes to add color to your hair. Many stylists use multiple colors of dye, to add highlights and lowlights that will be complementary to natural strands of hair.

If you have any grey hair, a stylist can use a permanent dye product to conceal the grey strands. A permanent color product will need to be reapplied during future salon appointments. Touchups will keep your hair color fresh and attractive.
