Changing My Hairstyle

About Me

Changing My Hairstyle

A few years ago, a friend of mine told me that my hair was a little dated. I was kind of offended at first, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that she was right. I needed a change, but I wasn't sure what I wanted. I started doing a little research, and I was able to find an incredible salon near my house that offered what I was looking for. I made an appointment, and the hairstylist walked me through a litany of styles, colors, and accessories. This blog is designed to help people to learn more about what a spa or salon can do for you, so that you can change your look too.

3 Side Benefits Of Going To The Tanning Salon

Most people go to the tanning salon simply to get the healthy-looking bronze glow. While some need a deep, full-body tan – for example, performers or competitive bodybuilders who want to enhance the look of their muscles – the average person simply wants to look less pasty and more vibrant. However, in addition to an accelerated, sunless tan, there are a few more benefits to spending time in the tanning bed. Here are some other things you may experience while tanning at a salon that can make you feel good.

1. It's relaxing.

Lying motionless with your eyes closed while the tanning bed does its work is extremely relaxing. Whether you listen to music, nature sounds, or simply the hum of the bed and the fan can be almost meditative. Since you have to keep your eyes closed and covered to protect them from the UV rays, you're forced to be a passive participant. The downtime is a great way to slow down, get comfortable and just chill while your tan develops.

2. It's warm.

When it's chilly outside, you'll look forward to your tanning session. Although temperatures in the beds vary, many people find that it feels similar to lying on a warm beach. As the bulbs get older they don't produce as much heat, but new bulbs can sometimes get hot enough that you have to turn the fan up or lift the top of the bed. In the middle of winter when you're chilled to the bone or when you've spent all day in the snow, the tanning bed or booth can warm you up thoroughly. It's a gentle, radiating heat that you'll feel down to the core of your body.

3. It's rejuvenating.

While the UVA rays of sunless tanning do not provide the same health benefits, such as Vitamin D, that actual sunlight does, they can still be uplifting and enhance your mood. In the middle of a long winter when days are short, or when it's been raining and you haven't seen the sun for a week, a few minutes under the glowing bulbs can lift your spirits. Being surrounded by the bright glow can make you feel like you've seen the sun and help improve your mood. While some research suggests that tanning beds can help your body produce the feel-good chemicals known as endorphins, it might simply be the break from dreary weather that helps you recharge. Either way, tanning can give you a mental boost during long periods of lousy weather

Tanning can do more than just give your skin a golden glow. While most tanners do it to achieve the perfect shade and not for therapeutic reasons, they often feel better when they leave the bed or booth. However, even though there are some side benefits to tanning, always tan responsibly. Protect your eyes from the UV rays, and ask the tanning salon attendant to recommend the best timer settings and intervals for your skin tone so you don't burn.
