Changing My Hairstyle

About Me

Changing My Hairstyle

A few years ago, a friend of mine told me that my hair was a little dated. I was kind of offended at first, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that she was right. I needed a change, but I wasn't sure what I wanted. I started doing a little research, and I was able to find an incredible salon near my house that offered what I was looking for. I made an appointment, and the hairstylist walked me through a litany of styles, colors, and accessories. This blog is designed to help people to learn more about what a spa or salon can do for you, so that you can change your look too.

Clear Your Head With A Mountain Meditation Retreat

In a very busy and stressful world, the effects of anxiety can take a real toll on your physical health and mental well-being. Everyone needs a break from the hustle and bustle of life, and a retreat to the mountains is an excellent way to ease some of that anxiety. If you want to add some extra zen to the experience, look for retreats that have a focus on meditation as well. Meditation has shown to be effective in healing the mind and body as well as relieving stress.

Where to Go

The United States has many different regions with beautiful mountain ranges where you can get away from it all. Whether you live in the sprawling Pacific Northwest or the Shenandoah Valley, there are countless areas where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery. If you're looking for a specific retreat that offers meditation, you can speak to a local spa or even a Buddhist temple who may be able to make some recommendations for you.

What to Do

When you've decided on where to book your retreat getaway, there are plenty of options while there to help you relax and enjoy your stay. Some people enjoy simply being in the presence and majesty of nature and enjoy taking long hikes, looking out over the mountains, or fishing. If meditation is part of your plan, be sure to book a stay at a place that offers this as part of the schedule. These retreats can teach you how to clear your mind and soul, sit quietly, and practice chanting. Chanting can help to calm the mind and also help to clear your head of any negative thoughts. Combined with a mountain landscape, this process is good for your mental health and will truly help you feel fully relaxed.

Types of Meditation

There are many different types of meditation you can attempt in order to gain inner peace. Depending upon the classes your retreat offers, you can try some of the following techniques:

  • Zen: This type of meditation involves remaining seated and involves the help of a teacher who will show you how to focus on breathing and quiet chanting.
  • Yoga: A more physical form of meditation, yoga is effective at healing the body and mind together. You'll attend a class lead by an instructor who will show you how to move your body in a way that promotes inner healing.
  • Mindfulness: Mindfulness is often used in clinical settings, but it is also a good way to meditate while on retreat. There is a focus on "breath awareness," which shows you how to really listen and focus on your breathing. It is combined with a focus on your body, starting at the toes and slowly working its way up, while you release and relax tension.
